Fairytales of Canuckistan

It’s been some time since my last blog post and my life’s got quite tedious and boring compared to that week off. However, the first few days I was catching up sleep, catching up studying, catching up with everyday life. As I try not to bore you here’s everything (at least partly) exciting I’ve done: I went curling, St. Patrick’s Day took place and my glasses got smashed on the middle of the dance floor, so I had to get new ones.

Curling was serious fun, I really need to do that again back home! It appears I have some skills that are very useful for this sport. Made me feel very Canadian.

St. Patrick’s Day was just crazy! Everyone was wearing green, and drank green-coloured Beer or other drinks. Basically everyone went out and so there was already a huge line up at 8pm in front of Heroes, the Campus Pub. Therefore we decided to take a cab downtown and go to CJs. It was a night I won’t forget too soon, it’s been a huge party!

Apart of these activities I started to plan my road trip after the semester. I will take myself three to four weeks to travel down the west coast to California and further on to Nevada and Arizona. It’s not yet all set in stone, but it seems I will be renting a car. If anyone’s ever been to that area, I would love to hear your recommendations what to see. Especially for the leg in between San Francisco and Los Angeles I don’t really know what to have a look at.

And yeah, that annoying glasses thing… I lost them somewhere in the middle of the dance floor at Rivers and couldn’t find them anymore. My night was screwed, hardly ever felt as angry and mad before. Could have started a riot, was so mad at the entire world. I called Rivers the day after and they found them, but unsurprisingly they were damaged. One lens was missing, the other one fully scratched, same for the frame that might have been fixed but was just too scratched to invest any further money in it. So I went downtown on Monday in order to look out for a new frame and apparently found one that fits into my face, thanks to the lovely help of Marianne. Amazing how my anger turned into excitement in the end. I hopefully will get them by Thursday, or at least by Friday.

What else has happened? Not too much, had a few presentations in class and some midterms as well as an essay to write. In four out of five classes I’m on my way to get at least an A-, in the other one I’m just about to fail right now, but I hope to make it to 50% somehow so I get my points and I can forget about it. It’s not that I wouldn’t understand Financial Management at all, I just don’t understand what is asked of me and how I am to use the data provided at the exam. Need to get that fixed soon.

There’s only one more month of classes left and a week of finals. Time flies, I don’t really feel like leaving already, I didn’t yet get to do all the things that I would like to do and I wish I could have accomplished a way bigger improvement on life by now. So I just need to enjoy the rest of the time granted to me and get the most out of it. My reluctance to leave is not a reluctance to go home, I actually wish to get home as soon as possible, as we seem to have found a new rehearsal room for some new music projects. Keen to get something started and rock out a little bit. But anyway, my life is happening here right now and I am happy and amazed by it and got so many more things that need to be done before setting sails back home.

So that’s it for now, hope everyone’s doing great and having a good time. Keep me posted & I would love to hear your recommendations according my west coast trip!

Videos of our Roadtrip

Hey there, as I've bought myself a new Camera I've taped quite some minutes of our Roadtrip. Finally I made it to edit them. However, sadly Windows Movie Maker won't let me export them as 1080-HD files but I think for YouTube this seems to be good enough. Maybe I will edit some more stuff later on!

Enjoy. Feedback always welcome!
